Hilversum is home to the largest number of musicians anywhere in Western Europe. This is because there are many organisations based in the city operating in the music entertainment industry, including Universal Music, Warner Music, and Spinnin’ Records. The Wisseloord Studios is where many national and international performers record their music. The Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision, the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, the Groot Omroepkoor and the Metropole Orchestra – the proud recipient of three Grammy Awards – are all also based in Hilversum. The city has created its very own sound.

Warner Music | Martin
Martin Jessurun’s father always wanted him to be a doctor, but he was drawn more to the music industry. After working part time as a DJ (with his own drive-in show, no less) and a stint working at record store Kareltje in Utrecht, he knew he’d found his niche, and ever since then Martin has been all about the music. As president of Warner Music Benelux, he oversees an impressive roster of Dutch and international recording artists.

Reaubeau | Rob
The studio owned by Rob Jager, whose stage name is ReauBeau, is a music lover’s temple, filled with musical instruments, computers, a comfy sofa and music posters on the walls. These are all the tools he needs to create ‘sick’ beats, compose trailer music and produce his own tracks. ReauBeau lives and breathes music 24/7. Having just returned from an inspirational visit to Tokyo, he’s on deadline to complete a new track this evening. ‘I’ve been doing this full-time for three years now. I’ve created a 30-year plan for myself. One thing I absolutely want to achieve in my career is create at least one legendary track.’
